Milestone: Jamie Benn records 500th point of his career

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

Jamie Benn is a member of the NHL's 500 Club. His membership card is in the mail.

The Dallas Stars captain reached the milestone Tuesday night against the Winnipeg Jets, when he got his team on the board with his 19th goal of the season.

Benn joins Patrick Kane as the only other member of the 2007 NHL Draft to record 500 points, according to Sportsnet Stats. That's notable because Kane was the first overall pick, while Benn was selected in the fifth round, 129th overall.

As the Stars fight for their playoff lives, Benn has upped his game. After a slow start by his standards, with only four points in eight games in October, Benn's been his usual self since.

Month GP Goals Assists Points
October 8 2 2 4
November 16 5 11 16
December 14 3 11 14
January 9 4 4 8
February 7 6 5 11

Benn added an assist Tuesday night, so his stay at 500 was short, and he's moved on to 501. His Stars lost again, though, a 5-2 decision to the Jets.
