Red Wings' Petr Mrazek: Penciled in to start at home Wednesday

Mrazek will command the crease Wednesday as the home starter versus the Blues, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

Analysis:

Starting goalie Jimmy Howard's (knee) status is in limbo after he suffered a setback in a minor-league conditioning game, plus rookie Jared Coreau was lit up for six goals on 30 shots in the team's most recent game facing the Wild on Sunday. Thus Wings coach Jeff Blashill will hand the reins to Mrazek for his 29th start of the season. He's been the most heavily utilized backstop for Detroit, though that can certainly be attributed to Howard being chronically banged up and Coreau eased into NHL action. In this next contest, Mrazek will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid.
