Blues' Vladimir Tarasenko: Nets two helpers in losing effort

Tarasenko picked up a pair of assists -- one on the power play -- but went minus-2 in Tuesday's loss to the Preds.

Analysis:

He's clipping along handsomely with a four-game point streak and a shiny 16 points over his last dozen contests. Tarasenko was awesome the last two seasons, but he's kicked his scoring up a notch this year, as he's averaging more than a point per game -- the Russian winger's notched 14 goals and 20 assists through 30 contests, placing him second only to Connor McDavid in the NHL scoring race. His slightly negative rating is his only drawback, as the Blues haven't been as defensively responsible as usual this year, but it wouldn't be surprising to see that come up in the long run.
