Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews: Skates Sunday, still out

Toews (back) participated in Sunday's optional practice session, Brian Hedger of NHL.com reports. However, he's already been ruled out for the evening's game against the Stars.

Analysis:

Toews has been off the ice for approximately a week due to the back issue, but appears to be making some progress. Whether or not he heads out with the team to New York for Tuesday's game against the Rangers will be a telling sign as to if he'll be available at some point during the club's three-game road trip.
