Ducks' John Gibson: Hangs on for shootout win

Gibson saved just 29 of 34 shots through overtime Wednesday, but he recovered to push away three of four shootout attempts and secure a win over Carolina.

Analysis:

Gibson wasn't sharp, but at least he did enough to leave with the win. However, his yo-yo season continues, as Gibson has allowed three goals or more in six of his past nine starts, but just three total over the other three games. That inconsistency makes it difficult to start Gibson with confidence, particularly in daily leagues. The talent and upside are unquestioned, though, so it isn't time to cut ties with the 23-year-old backstop.
