Canadiens' Paul Byron: Dropped to third line
Byron was dropped to the third line during Montreal's 2-1 loss to San Jose on Friday.
Analysis:
Byron had a plum assignment on the top line with Alex Galchenyuk and Alexander Radulov, but with the Habs unable to score consistently of late, coach Michel Therrien replaced him with Max Pacioretty on Friday. Byron, who had thrived on the top line when he scored five goals in a seven-game stretch, has gone point-less with four shots and a minus-3 rating over the last five games. His time as a top-six forward may be over.
