Predators' Miikka Salomaki: Set for conditioning assignment

Salomaki (hand) was sent to AHL Milwaukee for a conditioning stint Wednesday.

Analysis:

A two-way Finn lauded for his rigid work ethic, Salomaki has been on the shelf ever since taking a shot off his hand in an Oct. 15 contest against the Blackhawks. Conditioning assignments can vary drastically in terms of length, and there's no guarantee that he'll return to the NHL upon returning, but Salomaki is not likely to be a forgotten man as the Predators' second-round (52nd overall) pick from 2011.
