Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher: Breaks drought Saturday

Gallagher scored a game-tying, third-period goal in Montreal's 2-1 overtime win over Detroit. He added three shots on net, one hit and one blocked shot in 15:16 of ice time.

Analysis:

Gallagher's tip-in of a Tomas Plekanec shot past Detroit goalie Petr Mrazek was the winger's first goal in 16 games. The entire line -- Gallagher, Plekanec and Max Pacioretty -- have slumped for the last few weeks, but the combination is showing signs of improvement, having produced goals in each of the last two games. Montreal coach Michel Therrien told Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette that the trio's dry spell did not bother him, noting the scoring chances produced since they've been put together. Luckily for Montreal, they are getting by with a mediocre offense because they are backstopped by Carey Price, whose stellar goaltending gives forwards time to grind through slumps.
