Canucks' Ryan Miller: Out with illness

Miller will miss Thursday's matchup against Arizona with the flu, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.

Analysis:

Depending on how long he is out, Miller's illness could open the door for backup Jacob Markstrom, as the veteran has struggled to a horrendous 2-7-0 record with a .899 save percentage. Markstrom just gave up seven goals to the Rangers the other day, though, and his season save mark (.892) is even worse than Miller's. Unfortunately for both netminders, the Canucks' lack of offensive production -- they're averaging 2.00 goals per game -- is going to make wins hard to come by. With Miller sidelined, the team made the unusual move of calling up ECHL goalie Michael Garteig.
