Predators' Pekka Rinne: Dealing with lower-body injury

Rinne is day-to-day with a lower-body ailment, ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun reports.

Analysis:

It isn't clear when Rinne sustained the ding, but this news effectively rules the Finnish netminder out of Tuesday's matchup with the Maple Leafs, and leaves his status for Thursday's meeting with Ottawa in doubt. The veteran backstop has been fantastic of late, posting a 3-0-0 record with a superb 0.67 GAA and .976 save percentage over his last three starts, so this injury couldn't have come at a much worse time for Rinne and his owners. Marek Mazanec is slated to get the start in goal Tuesday against Toronto, but the Predators should release another update on Rinne's status ahead of Thursday's road contest.
