Kings' Alec Martinez: Overtime hero again, of course

Martinez scored in overtime again Tuesday, banging home a rebound to deliver a 3-2 win over Columbus.

Analysis:

Stop us if you've heard this one before. Martinez has earned himself a reputation for overtime heroics -- not only with his Stanley Cup winner in 2014, but also to start this season, as both of his goals have come in the extra frame. He's also sitting on five points in six games, which is a promising start to Martinez's efforts to improve upon last season's career-high 31 points. The 29-year-old certainly has the talent to hit 40 points for the first time this year, but he tends to go through hot and cold stretches; the Kings will ask him for more offensive consistency, as they need to make up for the absence of star goalie Jonathan Quick (groin).
