Canucks' Chris Tanev: Won't play Tuesday, but could return Friday

Tanev (undisclosed) won't be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Senators, but could return to action as soon as Friday against Edmonton, Matthew Sekeres of TSN 1040 AM reports.

Analysis:

With the veteran blueliner out of the lineup Tuesday, Troy Stecher is set to make his NHL debut against the Senators, and will likely slot into Tanev's spot on the Canucks' top pairing for the contest. Tanev has very little offensive upside, and shouldn't be owned in the majority of season-long leagues, so his absence shouldn't affect many fantasy owners' lineups. A definitive timetable for the 26-year-old defender's return to game action has yet to be established, but owners keeping tabs on his availability can expect an update on his status once he's slated to return to Vancouver's lineup.
