Panthers' James Reimer: Takes shootout loss in Florida debut

Reimer allowed three goals on 28 shots, ultimately suffering a 4-3 shootout loss against Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

Analysis:

It was a long shootout, but after Vince Trocheck bailed Reimer out in the third round, Lightning rookie Brayden Point beat him in the sixth. That's surely not how Reimer expected his season to start -- a couple months ago, we anticipated he would carry the load for at least a little while with Roberto Luongo coming back from hip surgery, but the Panthers' veteran starter made it back in time for Opening Night and has looked as strong as ever in the early going. Assuming he plays better moving forward, look for Reimer to make approximately 25 starts as Luongo's backup this season.
