Ducks' John Gibson: Receives starting nod for Tuesday's road game

Gibson will defend the cage in Tuesday's road matchup with the Devils, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

Analysis:

Gibson has struggled early on this season, registering an 0-1-1 record with an ugly 3.59 GAA and .860 save percentage over two appearances. However, the Ducks have faced a pair of tough opponents in the Stars and Islanders on the road in those two starts, and they should have more success going forward against easier opponents. The 23-year-old netminder could make for a sneaky play in daily contests Tuesday, as Gibson may not be heavily owned due to his early struggles, but he'll be taking on an anemic Devils offense that has scored a total of three goals through its first two games.
