Capitals' Philipp Grubauer: Gets starting nod against Colorado

Grubauer will be in goal Tuesday against the Avalanche, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

Grubauer will get his first start of the season, although it comes at an odd time with the team set to honor Braden Holtby with a pregame ceremony for his Vezina Trophy win. Grubauer was decent in relief last year after posting a 8-9-1 record with a 2.32 GAA. Although it's early in the year, it appears as though coach Barry Trotz is trying to utilize the 24-year-old more frequently to keep Holtby fresh for the postseason. Fantasy owners of both netminders will want to closely monitor the playing-time split.
