Predators' Marek Mazanec: Shaky after long NHL hiatus

Mazanec surrendered five goals on 27 shots in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Blackhawks.

Analysis:

Making his first start since the 2014-15 campaign, Mazanec was terrorized by forward Richard Panik, who recorded his first career NHL hat trick. The 25-year-old Mazanec had been paying his dues with AHL Milwauke in each of the past three seasons, and he seems to have nailed down the backup job in Nashville. Starting backstop Pekka Rinne is a workhorse, though, so expect Mazanec's starts to be few and far between.
