Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Holds down fort for season-opening OT win

Luongo stopped 23 of 24 shots by the Devils to take home a 2-1 overtime victory in Thursday's season opener.

Analysis:

The Devils upgraded their offense over the offseason, but apparently Luongo didn't notice, as he delivered the sort of dominant effort that we've grown quite used to seeing from him. After he underwent offseason hip surgery, there was some talk that the 37-year-old wouldn't be ready for the start of this season, but he got right in time for the opener and looks set to serve as a workhorse once again for a Panthers squad on the rise.
