Sabres' Robin Lehner: Beaten early, often in opener

Lehner was beaten four times on 24 shots in Thursday's season-opening loss to Montreal.

Analysis:

He ostensibly caught a break heading in with no Carey Price (flu) in goal on the other side, but it didn't matter -- not with the Sabres missing Jack Eichel and Kyle Okposo, two key offensive pieces, thanks to injuries. But hey, at least Lehner made it through the game healthy, as opposed to last year's opener, when he suffered a season-derailing ankle injury. When he was able to take the ice in 2015-16, the Swede posted an excellent .924 save percentage, which offers the promise of better performances to come.
