Ducks' John Gibson: Out sick Sunday

An illness prevented Gibson from suiting up in Sunday's exhibition finale against the Sharks, Curtis Zupke of NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

Newcomer Jonathan Bernier received the start instead. Anaheim opens the season against the Stars in Dallas on Thursday, so Gibson will aim to get healthy in time for that contest as he's the undisputed No. 1 backstop for the Ducks. Last year, he was a totally different player at home, fashioning a 1.80 GAA in 23 games at the Honda Center in contrast to a 2.43 GAA over 17 road matches.
