Canadiens' Mike Condon: Losing out on backup job

Condon has played poorly in his three preseason outings, giving up nine goals on 62 shots -- an .823 save percentage -- and with Al Montoya set to back up Carey Price, the second-year netminder may end up being traded.

Analysis:

Condon started hot, but flagged quickly after Price went down last season, ultimately ending up with an ugly .903 save mark and 2.71 GAA. He's experienced plenty of success at the AHL level, though, and the 26-year-old may make for a suitable backup with another franchise this year. Condon's on a one-way contract, so he'd have to pass through waivers to get sent down, which seems unlikely, as some teams have reportedly expressed interest in trading for him. His time with the Habs seems like it's coming to an end.
