Kings' Marian Gaborik: Out for World Cup

Gaborik (foot) will miss the remainder of the World Cup for Team Europe and could be sidelined for the start of the NHL season, Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet reports.

Analysis:

The loss of Gaborik will be a huge blow to underdog Team Europe who are already going to be tested by the speed and skill of Team Canada. Perhaps more importantly for fantasy owners, the winger's status for the start of the 2016-17 campaign is now in question. The veteran had a down year last season as he garnered a paltry 22 points. Given the drop in production and injury concerns, owners may want to shy away from utilizing Gaborik until he can show he still has something left in the tank.
