Blues' Alexander Steen: Skates without contact Saturday
Steen (shoulder) was on the ice in a non-contact jersey Saturday morning, one day after participating in a half practice, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Analysis:
Steen is being eased back into action following shoulder surgery. At 32 years old, he and top-line teammate Vladimir Tarasenko are shaping up to be the primary leaders of a St. Louis team that no longer has versatile veteran talent David Backes at its disposal. Steen secured a four-year, $23 million contract renewal as recently as Friday, so now he can focus squarely on being healthy for the season opener against the Blackhawks on Oct. 12.
