Canadiens' Brett Lernout: Impresses during tournament

Lernout (knee) impressed director of player development Martin Lapointe, who also coached the team, with his physical play during the NHL Rookie Tournament, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.

Analysis:

Lernout injured his knee during his NHL debut back in April. Prior to his debut, the 20-year-old defenseman lit the lamp two times and added 10 helpers in 69 games for AHL St. John's. Lernout is expected to begin the season in the minors after failing to receive an invite to NHL camp.
