Blues' Alexander Steen: Signs $23 million extension

Steen (shoulder) agreed to terms on a four-year, $23 million extension Friday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Analysis:

Steen has recorded three consecutive seasons over 50 points, peaking in 2014-15 with 24 goals and 40 helpers. The winger plays in all three phases of the game, as he logged 20:22 of ice time per game including 3:41 and 2:15 on the power play and penalty kill respectively. As long as he continues to be paired with Vladimir Tarasenko on the Blues top line, Steen should be able to maintain his level of production.
