Oilers' Andrew Ference: Career likely over after hip injury
Ference (hip) admitted that his career is most likely finished, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis:
After undergoing hip surgery in January, the 37-year-old defenseman will report to Oilers training camp, where he is expected to fail his physical and be placed on long-term injured reserve, effectively ending his career. Ference won the Stanley Cup in 2011 with Boston and tallied 169 points (28 goals, 141 assists) in 656 career NHL games.
