Lightning's Jonathan Drouin: Benched Monday at World Cup of Hockey
Drouin, who is skating with Team North America, was benched for the second half of Monday's 4-3 loss to Team Russia at the World Cup of Hockey. He was dropped to the fourth line.
Analysis:
"It's up to me to be better," admitted Drouin. He sat on the bench when coach Todd McLellan shortened his bench after Russia potted four-straight goals in the second period Monday. Drouin needs to earn his ice time on a roster laden with the NHL's best young stars and he wasn't alone on teh bench -- Jack Eichel and Dylan Larkin both saw limited ice time. Expect a rebound -- the kid seems to have learned something after his early pouting in 2015-16.
