Sabres' Evander Kane: Files counterclaim in Supreme Court

Kane, who is accused of harassment, disorderly conduct and trespass stemming from a June incident, has filed a counterclaim and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 31, TSN.ca reports.

Analysis:

Kane, who has plead not guilty to the charges, claims the allegations against him are "a sham" and is seeking a dismissal of the complaint along with the legal costs. This is the second time Kane has gotten in trouble with the law in just one injury-riddled season with Buffalo, but the NHL and the Sabres have remained mum on the subject, presumably until a ruling has been made. He scored 20 goals and 35 points in 65 games last year and is expected to report to training camp Thursday. Though Kane's talent on the ice is evident, his off-ice behavior remains an ongoing concern.
