Coyotes' Tobias Rieder: No movement in contract talks

There has been no change in Rieder's contract situation, Craig Morgan of the Arizona Republic reports. He remains a restricted free agent following two years of service time with the Coyotes.

Analysis:

A report from early August noted that the 23-year-old is seeking a two-year contract with an average annual value of $3 million. Evidently, that's not the type of deal that the 'Yotes are looking for, though it's possible that contract talks have idled simply because the German is actively participating in the World Cup of Hockey as a member of Team Europe. Rieder was a steady offensive contributor for Arizona last season, notching 14 goals, 23 assists and eight power-play points while playing the full 82-game schedule.
