Sabres' Linus Ullmark: Penciled in as starter for AHL

Ullmark finished the 2015-16 season as AHL Rochester's starter, a role he'll assume once again this coming season, the Olean Times Herald reports.

Analysis:

"I like to think it's going to be his job to lose," said. Rochester head coach Dan Lambert. Ullmark's North American debut was spectacular when he filled in for Robin Lehner, who suffered a high-ankle sprain, but faltered as the season progressed, citing a recent double hip surgery and a lack of conditioning for his poor play in the second half of the season. Ullmark comes highly touted after being named the SHL's top goalie in 2014, but goalies may take a long time to develop and there's no real hurry with Lehner already in the crease for Buffalo. Ullmark will have to fend off Jason Kasdorf all season, but Lambert expects the two goalies to push each other to new heights.
