Canucks' Jacob Markstrom: Impresses in surprise World Cup start

Markstrom stopped 27 of 28 shots in Sunday's World Cup opener against Team Russia.

Analysis:

It was a surprise start for Markstrom, as expected starter Henrik Lundqvist was scratched before the game. While the King missed the game due to sickness, he hadn't really impressed in two preseason games leading up to the opener. Markstrom turned heads with his performance and could be in for a big year in Vancouver, but it's unlikely Team Sweden team doesn't turn to Lundqvist in their next game.
