Oilers' Connor McDavid: Named captain of Team North America for WCOH

McDavid was named captain of Team North America for the World Cup of Hockey on Thursday, Pat Hickey of The Gazette reports.

Analysis:

Following a tremendous rookie campaign in which McDavid racked up 16 assists and 32 goals in 45 games for Edmonton, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft will now represent Team North America as captain in the WCOH. The 19-year-old center will join a crowd of 23-and-unders on the roster as the North Americans attempt to dethrone the tournament's last champion, Canada, who won in 2004.
