Capitals' Philipp Grubauer: Added to Team Europe for World Cup

Grubauer will replace the injured Frederik Andersen (upper body) for Team Europe at the World Cup of Hockey, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

Grubauer hails from Germany, where his hockey career began in the 2007-08 season with Rosenheim Star Bulls, a junior under-18 club. Grubauer was drafted by the Capitals in 2010 and has since served in a backup role to Braden Holtby, who took home the 2016 Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender. The German is best used as a handcuff to Holtby in season-long fantasy leagues, though he could prove to be useful as a spot play in daily fantasy whenever the starter needs a breather. Washington claimed the Presidents' Trophy last season, and wins should remain plentiful in the upcoming campaign.
