Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Without clear timetable for return
While Luongo (hip) is preparing for the start of the 2016-17 season, he has refrained from giving a timetable for his return to game action, Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis:
It's simply too early to tell whether Luongo will work between the pipes when the Panthers open the season against the Devils on Oct. 13, though it's encouraging that the 37-year-old is not ruling out returning for that first contest at home. Whenever he's ready, the veteran should take over from James Reimer and benefit from a retooled Panthers defense that now includes the likes of offensive blueliners Keith Yandle, Jason Demers and Mark Pysyk.
