Stars' Jamie Benn: Ruled out for World Cup of Hockey

Benn will miss the World Cup of Hockey as he's still recovering from core muscle surgery, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

Logan Couture of the Sharks reportedly will represent Team Canada in place of Benn. A 27-year-old winger, Benn went under the knife in mid-July, at which point he was given an estimated recovery time of six weeks. He's approaching the tail end of that timetable, and while there haven't been any reported setbacks in his rehab, it appears that the Stars are handling this situation delicately, which is understandable given Benn's elite status. After finishing second in the NHL with 89 points last season, expect Benn to fly off draft boards this fall.
