Red Wings' Henrik Zetterberg: Named Sweden's captain for World Cup

Zetterberg will serve as Sweden's captain at the World Cup of Hockey in September, NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

Zetterberg is no stranger to international competition. As noted in the report, this will be his 13th time representing his native Sweden, albeit just the second go-around as team captain. He won an Olympic gold medal in 2006 and took home silver eight years later. Zetterberg's been the focal leader of the Red Wings since 2013, though his play in the upcoming season should go under the microscope with Pavel Datsyuk, his long-time companion, now in Russia. While his days producing 70-plus points are far behind, Big Z should continue to thrive on the power play after posting two goals and 20 assists in that special-teams situation a year ago. Consider drafting him in the early rounds this fall.
