Sharks' Logan Couture: Bulking up this summer

Couture has been bulking up this summer and is approaching 210 pounds, reports the London Free Press. "You're not going to survive out there being 180-90 pounds," said Couture. "In the Pacific Division, it's just too tough."

Analysis:

"As you get older in the Western Conference, you've got to play big and strong up front," continued the 27-year-old star. "You've got (Anze) Kopitar in L.A., (Ryan) Getzlaf with the Ducks. I think that's what Edmonton wants to do and Calgary is trying, too." Couture is coming off a disappointing 2015-16 where he scored a career-low 15 goals in 52 games before amping things up in the postseason with a whopping 30 points. It will be interesting to see how the added bulk affects his speed, but we suspect muscle equals might out West. This could be a great season for Couture and the Sharks.
