Red Wings' Petr Mrazek: Re-ups with Detroit for two years
Mrazek signed a two-year contract extension with the Red Wings on Wednesday valued at $3.85 million in 2016-17 and $4.15 million in 2017-18, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Analysis:
Previous reports indicated that Mrazek initially had been asking for $5 million annually, so the Wings got him at a pretty good discount while avoiding salary arbitration. With the contract distractions behind him, Mrazek can focus on the upcoming season and his quest to officially supplant Jimmy Howard as the No. 1 netminder in Detroit. The Czech turned in a 27-16-6 record, 2.33 GAA and .921 save percentage last season; he'll be a nice pick in fantasy once the elite goalies are off the board.
