Maple Leafs' Connor Carrick: Inks two-year extension with Buds

Carrick signed a two-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs on Friday.

Analysis:

It's tough to keep track of all of the prospects trying to morph the Original Six franchise back to respectability. However, Carrick stands out from the bunch as he led the AHL's Marlies with 18 points in the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs. Originally drafted by the Capitals in 2012, Carrick has 53 NHL games under his belt at the age of 22. He's expected to compete for a spot on the opening night roster in training camp this fall.
