Lightning's Alex Killorn: Signs seven-year extension

Killorn agreed to a seven-year contract with the Lightning on Sunday, with an average salary of $4.45 million per year, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis:

Killorn has spent the first four years of his career with the Lightning and has now re-upped with the organization despite filing for arbitration earlier in July. He's coming off a 2015-16 campaign where he posted 14 goals and 26 assists and considering he's just 26 years old, there's still plenty of room for improvement. After Killorn established himself as a key piece in the Lightning's recent Stanley Cup run, the team felt he was a valuable piece in their rotation, so look for him to take on a similar, if not slightly larger, role during the upcoming season. While the regular season left a bit to be desired in terms of his fantasy value, Killorn showed his potential in the playoffs and could have more appeal in his fifth campaign.
