Stars' Jamie Benn: Undergoes successful surgery Thursday

Benn underwent successful surgery to repair a core muscle injury Thursday. He is expected to be fully recovered from the procedure in six weeks.

Analysis:

Benn's recovery timetable puts him on track to be ready for the start of the 2016-17 campaign, but leaves his status for September's World Cup of Hockey up in the air. The Canadian forward will be reevaluated in six weeks, at which time his availability for the World Cup will be determined. Fantasy owners can expect an update on the 26-year-old sniper's status ahead of Canada's first World Cup contest, which is set to take place on Sept. 17 against the Czech Republic.
