Hurricanes' Victor Rask: Agrees to six-year, $24 million deal

Rask (shoulder) has agreed to terms on a six-year, $24 million contract with the Hurricanes, NHL.com's Brian Compton reports.

Analysis:

Rask took a big step up in his second NHL season, tallying 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists) in 80 appearances, after recording 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) over 80 games as a rookie in 2014-15. He did have shoulder surgery in May, but the Hurricanes expect him to be healthy prior to the start of the upcoming campaign. After mostly splitting time between the second and third lines last season, the 23-year-old Swede should be back in the mix for a top-six role.
