Panthers' Derek MacKenzie: Will sign two-year contract extension

MacKenzie will re-sign with the Panthers on a two-year extension worth an estimated $2.6 million, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

The extension will cover MacKenzie through the 2018-19 season, and he'll be paid out at a similar annual rate to what he's received on his current deal. MacKenzie, who tallied six goals and 13 points in 64 games last season, is expected to continue serving in a fourth-line role for the Panthers.
