Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Inks one-year, two-way deal with Sharks

Gudlevskis signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Lightning on Saturday, Bryan Burns of NHL.com reports.

Analysis:

Gudlevskis made a spot-start for the Bolts last October and nearly shut out a Blackhawks team that had won the Stanley Cup earlier in 2015. As impressive as he was while having that cup of coffee with the parent club, Gudlevskis proved with Syracuse that he still needs time to develop. In 41 games, the 23-year-old went 16-12-8 with a 2.83 GAA and .907 save percentage. But the good news for the Latvian is that Ben Bishop, Tampa's No. 1 goalie, has just one year remaining on his contract with the Bolts and could ultimately get shipped with the team already re-signing big names in Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman.
