Panthers' Vincent Trocheck: Secures six-year extension

Trocheck signed a six-year contract valued at $4.75 million per season Saturday, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis:

Trocheck was a restricted free agent for a day. The immediacy in signing the 22-year-old makes a whole lot of sense given the center's breakout campaign in 2015-16 that included 25 goals, 28 assists and a plus-15 rating. He's a guy you won't want to overlook in fantasy drafts this fall. The Panthers have signed power-play quarterback Keith Yandle -- presumably to be paired with Aaron Ekblad, an offensive force in his own right -- and that means Tro will be receiving plenty of slick passes in the attacking zone.
