Jets' Brian Strait: Heads to Winnipeg on one-year deal

Strait (upper body) signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Jets on Friday.

Analysis:

Strait appeared in 52 games with the Islanders last season, tallying just six points (one goal, five assists) over that span. The 28-year-old blueliner will provide the Jets with additional depth at defense next season, but may be the odd man out on most nights, watching his team play from the press box as a healthy scratch. Strait was dealing with an upper-body injury at the end of the 2015-16 season, but should be ready for training camp in September.
