Flames' Chad Johnson: One-year deal makes him back-up in Calgary

Johnson signed a one-year, $1.7 million contract with the Flames on Friday, reports TSN.

Analysis:

Johnson will be the clear backup in Calgary, playing second fiddle to Brian Elliott. He's a solid No. 2 in spurts and delivered a .920 save percentage in 45 games with Buffalo this past season. The hometown boy returns to Calgary and the Flames will be solid in the blue paint if Johnson can deliver a season like he did in 2013-14 in Boston -- 27 games and a .925 save percentage.
