Dan Hamhuis' tenure with the Vancouver Canucks is over.

The Dallas Stars have signed the defenseman to a two-year contract, the club announced. The deal is worth $7.5-million, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

The 33-year-old spent the last six seasons at the top of Vancouver's defensive depth chart, and although he's recently battled injuries, Hamhuis is confident he can return to the form that earned him a spot on Canada's 2014 Olympic team.

He joins a formidable defensive corps in Dallas that features John Klingberg, Johnny Oduya, and Jordie Benn.

Prior to scoring only 13 points in 58 games last season, Hamhuis registered 10 consecutive seasons of 20-plus points, and should benefit from an offensive boost in a potent Stars lineup.
