The Los Angeles Kings added depth to their back end Friday, signing defenseman Tom Gilbert to a one-year deal, the club announced.
The deal's worth $1.4-million, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Gilbert had a goal and an assist in 45 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season. He led Habs defenders in blocked shots per game, averaging two per contest. He also averaged 16:52 of ice time with Montreal.
The 33-year-old is a veteran of 637 regular-season games, with 44 goals and 174 assists.
