The New York Islanders have signed unrestricted free-agent Andrew Ladd to a seven-year contract, the team announced.
The former Winnipeg Jets captain joins the Islanders after failing to capture a Stanley Cup as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Ladd has hit the 20-goal mark in five of the last six seasons, only failing to do so in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign.
For the Islanders, Ladd gives the club a replacement to play alongside captain John Tavares after walking away from forward Kyle Okposo who ultimately agreed to a seven-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres.
