Sabres' Casey Nelson: Inks two-year extension

Nelson signed a two-year contract extension with the Sabres on Wednesday.

Analysis:

Nelson is best known at Minnesota State University-Mankato, where he was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season, having recorded six goals, 16 assists and 22 PIM in 40 games. Known as a terrific skater, the 23-year-old also made his way into seven NHL contests with the Sabres last season, notching four assists after replacing Zach Bogosian in April when he went down with a lower-body injury. There's a lot to like about Nelson, but fantasy owners can wait on him until he blooms into a full-time player.
